General Command Usage Rules

The following rules apply to all staff members with command access, regardless of rank:
  • Commands must only be used for moderation, safety, or operational purposes.
  • Commands must never be used for personal advantage or trolling
  • Abuse of commands, even once, may result in immediate disciplinary action.
  • All actions taken using commands must be justifiable and proportionate.
  • Staff must be prepared to explain and justify any command usage to Senior Management.
  • Commands must not be used as punishment unless explicitly permitted by policy.
  • If unsure whether a command is appropriate, do not use it — escalate the situation.

Management Command Permissions

Management-level staff have limited administrative access focused on player moderation and operational support.

Permitted Command Types

  • Player moderation
  • Shift or session control
  • Minor corrective actions

Commonly Permitted Commands

  • :warn [player] [reason]
  • :kick [player] [reason]
  • :mute [player]
  • :unmute [player]
  • :freeze [player]
  • :unfreeze [player]
  • :respawn [player]
  • :jail [player] (short-term, non-punitive only)
  • :unjail [player]
  • :viewlogs [player] (if applicable)

Restrictions

  • Must not ban players permanently.
  • Must not use teleport, fly, or god commands for personal use.
  • Must not modify game state, vehicles, or race outcomes.
  • Must not issue punishments outside defined moderation guidelines.

Senior Management Command Permissions

Senior Management members have extended authority and are responsible for investigations, escalations, and higher-impact actions.

Permitted Command Types

  • Advanced moderation
  • Investigation and oversight (if applicable)
  • Event or system supervision

  • All Management commands, plus:
  • :ban [player] [duration/reason]
  • :pban [player] [reason]
  • :sban [player] [reason]
  • :unban [player]

Restrictions

  • Must not use commands to influence race results unfairly.
  • Shutdowns must be justified and reported.
  • Teleport commands must not be abused for convenience.
  • Disciplinary actions must align with TrackRace moderation policy.

Executive Command Permissions

Executives hold the highest level of administrative authority and are responsible for system-wide actions and oversight.

Permitted Command Types

  • Full administrative access
  • System management
  • Emergency intervention

Commonly Permitted Commands

  • All previous commands, plus:
  • :slock
  • :unslock
  • :globalmessage
  • :give [item]
  • :shutdown

Restrictions

  • Must not act emotionally or impulsively.
  • Must document major actions.
  • Must not override policies without valid justification.
  • Executive powers must never be used casually.

Prohibited Command Usage (All Levels)

The following actions are strictly prohibited:
  • Using commands on friends or rivals to gain advantage.
  • Trolling players using admin tools.
  • Using commands for entertainment or flexing authority.
  • Punishing players without evidence or reason.
  • Bypassing cooldowns or restrictions intentionally.
  • Using commands while off-duty unless authorised.
  • Using commands to avoid gameplay consequences.

Logging & Accountability

  • All command usage is logged automatically where possible.
  • Staff may be asked to explain or justify command usage.
  • Failure to justify may be treated as misuse.
  • Tampering with logs or attempting to hide command usage is a serious offence.

Emergency Situations

In emergencies (exploits, server crashes, mass rule-breaking):
  • Senior Management or Executives may take immediate action.
  • Actions must be reported and documented afterward.
  • Management-level staff must escalate immediately and avoid overstepping.

Violations & Enforcement

Misuse of commands may result in:
  • Formal warnings
  • Suspension
  • Demotion
  • Immediate termination
Severity depends on intent, impact, and prior history.
